Do the doormat bristles shed?

Yes, some shedding is normal - especially with natural coir doormats. Coir fibres will naturally shed over time due to regular foot traffic. You may notice more shedding during the first few weeks of use, which is completely normal. As the mat settles in, shedding will reduce and occur more gradually. This is a natural trait of coir and does not affect the mat’s durability or effectiveness.

If you prefer a low-shedding option, our synthetic matting and needle punch matting are designed to minimise fibre loss. While a few loose fibres may appear initially (typically from the cutting process), this should not continue with regular use.
