When selecting the right doormat size, consider the following factors:
1. Door Clearance
Ensure your doormat is thin enough so your door can open and close freely over it - especially for internal doors or mat wells. Check the available height and select a mat with a suitable thickness.
2. Coverage Area
Think about how much floor space you want the mat to cover. A wider mat captures more dirt and moisture, especially in high-traffic areas. For mat wells or recesses, measure the space accurately in millimetres, and if using traditional coir backing, undersizing by 6mm allows for natural expansion.
3. Design Orientation
Choose a size and shape that complements your entrance and suits the layout of your space. For double doors, a larger or custom-sized mat is often more effective and visually balanced.
